Deirdre Mulrooney is a writer/director, film-maker, radio documentary maker and dance historian. Her ongoing research is about re-inscribing the body into Irish cultural history. She is author of "Irish Moves, an illustrated history of dance and physical theatre in Ireland" and a book on German choreographer Pina Bausch (her PhD). Her original creative documentaries have been screened on TG4, RTE, and film festivals worldwide, from Belgrade-Irish Film Festival, RHIFF, and KIFF, to Lincoln Center NYC Dance on Camera Festival. She has written several chapters in books and has contributed to scholarly journals, including, most recently, to Joyce Studies Annual on the topic of Lucia Joyce's modern dance career.
