Synopsis
In the overgrown back garden of a 1950s Limerick city housing estate which was the height of utopian modernity when built for Ireland's new civil servants, the filmmaker enacts a Newgrange-like ritual bidding farewell to a family home, and ushering in a new era.
Concept & Technique
Through the aperture of archive photographs, Super 8 film, vintage voice recording, and oral history, the artist revisits re-enacts, and re-inhabits the geography of her ancestors and her Limerick childhood, sublimating them in a contemporary back garden ritual of Grange spirals, farewells, and melancholy Beckett whispers.
