Synopsis
One minute stop motion artwork records the initial process of making Captured Moments. This was recorded by McEvoy during her 2023 residency in Tyrone Guthrie Centre
Concept & Technique
Captured Moments I & II were made in response to Vera McEvoy's time spent in the Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, as Artist in Residence (YPCE 2022-23) supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. These are large scale, back lit, artworks in deep frames - Medium: drawing on tan coloured 283gm card, perforations made using a scribe. Dimensions Captured Moments I: w. 1220mm × h. 920mm x d. 60mm. Captured Moments II: w. 920 mm × h. 1220mm x d. 60mm. Vera has researched Froebelian theory and practice extensively during her residency and Froebel 'occupations' which include sewing and paper perforation, which have informed these works.
