Artist's biography

Clodagh Emoe

Synopsis

Parodos is drawn from Emoe’s larger project, Cult of Engagement, an installation informed by the dramatic tradition of Greek tragedy. The installation incorporates Parodos, projected large scale, Azimuth, a wooden stage with petrified wax banners, and The Approach, a banner positioned at the entrance to the exhibition (with a large hole to be walked through).  Parodos is the term used for the entrance song of the chorus introducing the event that is about to take place. The processional chorus in Emoe’s film is, however, silent – an absence suggesting the role of the viewer within this dynamic to imagine what unfolds.

Cinematographer: Kate McCullough; grip: Ian McGurrell; sound: Karl Burke; editors: John Travers and Clodagh Emoe; production coordinator: Mary Cremin.

Chorus: Colin Carters; Edia Connole; Rob Dunne; Antoinette Emoe; Richard Hansard; Simon Keating; Phil Kelly; Steven Kemp; Christopher Mahon; Shane McCarthy; Pat Murphy; Borja Neumann; Joe Stanley.
