Fifi Smith is a visual artist living and working in Celbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland. Originally working as an architect, Fifi Smith has been a practicing artist since 1995. Her first solo show was in 1998. Her work has evolved through ceramics and bronze to steel, mixed media installations. Her current work is in the form of large scale light and kinetic installations and experimental film. Conceptually, she explores the relationship between mass behavior/conformity and individuality within the individual and linked to this, the shifting balance between emotion and reason in human motivation. Her work has been shown in Barcelona, Bucharest, Bejing, as well as Washington DC, Manchester, Cork Dublin Galway and Kildare. Fifi is the founder of the MExIndex and was a founding member of the Plastik Moving images Film Festival in Dublin.
